12.7. Brake shoes of drum brakes - replacement

Attention! Brake shoes need to be replaced at the same time on both wheels. Attention! When replacing brake shoes it is also recommended to replace a returnable spring, a spring of the automatic regulator and clamping springs.
1. Lift the car and remove back wheels.
2. Remove the car from the emergency brake.
3. Remove the brake drum.

6.4b Before removal of elements of a brake, clear them the cleaning liquid of brakes and dry up them



6.4v Remove fastening



6.4g by means of tonkogubets disconnect a spring from blocks



6.4d Disconnect a returnable spring from blocks



6.4e Remove clamping springs from brake shoes



6.4zh Remove brake shoes and the regulator



6.4z Disconnect a rope of the emergency brake from the lever of the emergency brake - for this purpose take away a rope braid back and disconnect a rope from the lever



6.4i Disconnect brake shoes from each other


6.4k Remove the With-shaped clip from an axis of the lever of the emergency brake (remove a clip only from outside, opposite to the lever)



6.4l Disconnect a spring from the regulator...



6.4m... then remove a regulator tip



6.4n Disconnect the lever of the emergency brake from a back brake shoe - install the lever on a new block and fix it by means of the Corresponding clip



6.4o Disconnect a spring from the adjusting screw



6.4p Remove the With-shaped clip from a reverse side of a forward block, then remove the adjusting screw



6.4r Clear the adjusting screw and grease with multi-purpose grease a carving - connect the regulator to a new forward block and fix it by means of the With-shaped clip



6.4s Grease with a thin layer of high-temperature lubricant the sites on a guard concerning brake shoes



6.4t Connect a rope of the emergency brake to the lever of the emergency brake



6.4u Establish a back block on a guard of a brake and establish a clamping spring



6.4f Establish a forward block on a guard and establish a clamping spring



6.4kh Establish a returnable spring



6.4ts Establish a fixing spring on blocks



6.4ch Pick up a clip spring under fastening of blocks, and bend it from above fastenings (it is specified by an arrow) so that it got to a groove on a clip



4. Check and replace brake shoes, being guided by photos 6.4a, 6.4b, 6.4v, 6.4g, 6.4d, 6.4e, 6.4zh, 6.4z, 6.4i, 6.4k, 6.4l, 6.4m, 6.4n, 6.4o, 6.4p, 6.4r, 6.4s, 6.4t, 6.4u, 6.4f, 6.4kh, 6.4ts, 6.4ch

6.6v Disconnect a regulator spring, then remove a spring and the lever (are specified by shooters)



6. Disconnect a spring from the regulator or the lever of the regulator (depending on model) and remove to the lever and a spring (6.6a, 6.6b and 6.6v).
7. Part blocks in the parties and remove the regulator.
8. Remove a returnable spring.
9. Remove clamping springs of brake shoes.
10. Remove a forward block from a brake guard, then disconnect a rope of the emergency brake from the lever.
11. Clear the adjusting screw and grease its carving with multi-purpose grease (6.4r).
12. Grease with a thin layer of high-temperature lubricant the sites on a guard concerning brake shoes (6.4s).
13. Install the lever of the emergency brake on a new back brake shoe (6.4k).
14. Connect a rope to the lever of the emergency brake and establish a back block on a guard. Establish a clamping spring.
15. Establish a forward block on a guard and establish a clamping spring.
16. Establish a returnable spring on blocks.

6.17 Check that regulator cuts (or struts) got to cuts on blocks



17. Part blocks in the parties and install the regulator (6.17).
18. Install the lever of the regulator and a spring.
All models

6.19 The most admissible diameter of the brake drum is specified the surfaces of the reel



19. Before installation check the brake drum for existence of cracks, scratches or spots. The most admissible diameter of a drum is specified on the reel (6.19).
20. Install the brake drum and adjust bearings of a back wheel.
21. Establish a wheel and lower the car on the earth.
22. Put the car on the emergency brake and squeeze out a brake pedal several times to adjust the provision of brake shoes.
